Trip to Brazil

After 12 months working in the development of NZ Surf n Stay in Whangamata, many adventures exploring the amazing Kiwi east coast, and a 2 weeks holiday in Indonesia, the Surf n Stay family returns to its original destination, Rio de Janeiro.

“2016 has been an amazing year for us, fulfilled with many new experiences and meeting awesome people. We have set up new surfing programs to help kids to develop their surfing skills. It’s been so cool, watching the passion of the sport grow, alongside their skills”, says Mauro, the proud dad of little ripper, Taj.

Talking about grommets, Taj has just turned nine years old and just brought himself his new Billabong wetsuit for this trip. He saved by renting out his body boards to guests at NZ Surf n Stay last summer. “Thanks to Saltwater surf shop in Whangamata, owner Pete Mitchell, for having belief in his surfing passion and for always hooking him up, Taj is just so stocked!” say’s Mum! “Before leaving, we always find what gear we need for our trips there, easy as” she then added.

So now after five days of surfing, beach soccer and drinking coconuts from the Rio Surf n Stay palm tree’s, settling into the crazy busy life and happy culture of Brazil, it turns out to be not so hard to adapt. Eating rice and black beans is the soul food for many here, for Taj and Sando it’s now the same but they are not fazed.

Tonight we are starting the regular BBQ nights up again with happy hour at 6pm and a choice of Brazilian beer or Caprinhas with limes. If you have never tried this I highly recommend it!
